Cyanide Studio’s “hardcore stealth” franchise has officially returned with Styx: Blades of Greed, launching globally on February 19, 2026. This third installment elevates the series’ signature verticality by introducing semi-open “floating trade-cities,” challenging players to navigate complex multi-layered environments where the shadows are the only reliable sanctuary.

Styx: Blades of Greed follows the titular goblin assassin on a personal quest for “Quartz,” a volatile and precious resource at the center of a burgeoning conflict between humans, elves, and orcs. Departing from the more linear structures of previous entries, Blades of Greed utilizes a “Greed System” that encourages risk-taking; players must decide between taking the safest route or pursuing high-value loot that physically slows Styx down and increases his noise profile.
Traversal has been radically overhauled with the addition of a mechanical grappling hook and a glider, enabling seamless movement between airships and towering spires. The core gameplay loop remains committed to “pure stealth,” where direct combat is intentionally difficult and often fatal. Success relies on utilizing environmental traps—such as sabotaging chandeliers or using “Amber-Vision” to track guard heat signatures—while managing new supernatural Quartz powers like Time Shifting and Mind Control.

Built for current-gen hardware, the game demonstrates a significant leap in asset density and lighting fidelity. The “Seven Skies” setting features intricate architectural assets that leverage high-resolution textures and complex geometry to create a believable sense of scale. The standout technical feature is the implementation of Ray-Traced “Amber-Vision” on consoles and DLSS 3.5 on PC, providing a competitive look at how lighting and shadow can be used as functional gameplay mechanics. The UI remains minimalist, focused on “Diegetic” elements that keep the player’s eyes on the environment rather than on-screen gauges.
- Technical Highlights: Incredible vertical scale, industry-leading lighting mechanics, and a rewarding risk-vs-reward “Greed System.”
- Potential Bottlenecks: Notable performance jank on PC at launch; relatively high hardware requirements (RTX 3070 for 1080p High); and steep difficulty for newcomers to the genre.
